S+T+ARTS Residencies organizes, finances and supervises 45 artist residencies within the framework of tech projects.
The selected artists contribute to innovative aspects in research and technology projects by introducing original perspectives through artistic practices.
At the end of the programme, the Federal Competence Centre for Cultural and Creative Industries, together with the S+T+ARTS initiative of the European Commission, invited artists to a symposium on 2 July. It examined how the cultural and creative industries, and the arts in particular, contribute to meeting urgent social and environmental challenges by reshaping the relationship between people and digital technologies, recognising empathy as a driving force in technological development and promoting innovation in all branches of industry.
On the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the European Commission's initiative "S+T+ARTS - innovation at the nexus of Science, Technology, and the Arts" (Directorate-General Connect), the symposium also marked the opening of the exhibition NEAR FUTURES AND QUASI-WORLDS at the STATE Studio in Berlin. The exhibition can be visited until 26 July 2020
