The unique feature of Teuken-7B is its European perspective. The model was trained in all 24 official European languages. This makes it one of the few AI language models that have been developed from the ground up to be multilingual. Teuken-7B is also accessible via the GAIA-X infrastructure and was developed in line with the corresponding European standards for data storage and processing.
The open-source model allows companies and organizations to run their own customized models in real-world applications. Sensitive data can remain within the company, making the AI system particularly interesting for safety-critical areas in the automotive sector, in robotics, in medicine or in finance.
Teuken-7B is available in two versions: a research version and a commercial version under the Apache 2.0 license. Developers from the scientific community or companies can download Teuken-7B for free from the AI community platform “Hugging Face” and integrate it into their own systems.
The OpenGPT-X consortium is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection. In addition to the Fraunhofer Institutes for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems IAIS and for Integrated Circuits IIS, the following organizations are involved: Forschungszentrum Jülich, the German AI Association, TU Dresden, the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence, IONOS, Aleph Alpha, ControlExpert and Westdeutscher Rundfunk.
