hub.berlin is turning into a fully-fledged digital trade fair. After the cancellation of CEBIT, the business festival of digitization in Berlin, held for the first time on two days, is likely to become the new marketplace for innovative solutions in A.I., Big Data, Blockchain and algorithms. Fraunhofer will therefore be consistently present with a 60 qm corporate booth in 2019.
Already in the recent years – until 2016 still under the title hub.conference – the event attracted thousands of visitors. This year more than 5,000 participants from over 3,000 companies and organizations are expected.
The Fraunhofer ICT Group seizes the opportunity and presents itself from this year as one of the largest exhibitors at the trade fair with five showcases on a corporate stand.
...on a slot car track!
The High Performance Computing Unit of Fraunhofer SCAI houses a self-developed machine learning algorithm. With the help of a camera-based system, it can steer the racing car across the track not only quickly but also without coming off after only a few laps of training. Then the system is ready for the duel between man and machine.
And even then the learning continues: The system can adapt to changing conditions, such as warmer engines or weaker tires, and continue to achieve optimum lap times.

In this logistics showcase of the Fraunhofer cluster Cognitive Internet Technologies, a "Cognitive Sensor Connector" functions as an edge device, which processes the extensive raw data of the connected sensors (temperature, position, acceleration, vibration, etc.) directly during data acquisition and converts them into "Smart Data".
The data is stored in a special blockchain - the "trackchain". Supply and production chains can be tracked across national and company borders and recorded in a traceable history.
The ability to share real-time information in a controlled, i.e. data sovereign and secure manner is a prerequisite for new business models and sustainable new value chains. The "International Data Space" is a trustworthy, distributed infrastructure for cross-company data exchange. It makes it possible to retain control over one's own data and to use it economically and cooperatively in a trustworthy, secure, decentrally managed data space.n.

The auralization of digital product models developed at Fraunhofer IDMT uses wave field synthesis and binaural rendering for VR systems to make a product audible even before the first prototype is even created.
