Since June 1, 2024, Professor Sanaz Mostaghim has been the new Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Transportation and Infrastructure Systems IVI. In her position, she works together with the long-standing institute director Professor Matthias Klingner, who will remain in charge until the end of the year.
With Sanaz Mostaghim, the Fraunhofer ICT Group has won a renowned expert in the field of artificial intelligence. She has been teaching at the Department of Computational Intelligence in the Faculty of Computer Science at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg since 2014. Previously, she worked at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology KIT, among others.
Mostaghim specializes in multi-criteria optimization, decision-making and evolutionary algorithms as well as collective intelligence and swarm robotics, making her an ideal addition to the Fraunhofer IVI's research portfolio – particularly in the fields of intelligent transport systems and logistics.
At its locations in Dresden, Ingolstadt and Berlin, the Fraunhofer IVI develops technologies and concepts for the areas of mobility, energy and security – from preliminary research to practical application.
Prof. Matthias Klingner, who has headed the institute for many years since 2005, will take over as Managing Director alongside Professor Mostaghim until the end of the year.
